Jose Sanchez – Director
firstname.lastname@example.org – @jomasan
Jose Sanchez is an Architect / Programmer / Game Designer based in Los Angeles, California. He is partner at Bloom Games, start-up built upon the BLOOM project, winner of the WONDER SERIES hosted by the City of London for the London 2012 Olympics. He is the director of the Plethora Project (www.plethora-project.com), a research and learning project investing in the future of on-line open-source knowledge. The project has over 150 videos and an open-source library of code with over 700.000 completed video session since 2011. His background in computational design and digital manufacturing is linked to Biothing with Alisa Andrasek, were he was one of the principal designers in numerous projects and exhibitions since 2009. Today, he is an Assistant Professor at USC School of Architecture in Los Angeles. His research ‘Gamescapes’, explores generative interfaces in the form of video games, speculating in modes of intelligence augmentation, combinatorics and open systems as a design medium.
Soomeen Hahm – Director China
Soomeen will be directing the Plethora Project China. Her education and knowledge of the region will allow to expand the project into territories now blocked by the great firewall.
Soomeen Hahm is an architectural designer and researcher based in London. Her interests are focused on research in generative and algorithmic design through the use of computer coding, application of multi-agent systems in design, interactive/responsive environments, behavioral patterns of natural systems, as well as robotic fabrication processes and digital modes of production. She is specialized in coding, digital simulations and 3d modeling in various software platforms.
Currently she is a senior designer at Zaha Hadid Architects, and she is also working as assistant tutor at the AA and the Bartlett. As part of her educational research, she is contributing to various online educational contents and digital tool set libraries.
She strongly believes in teaching and research within academia as indispensable ways to exchange, communicate and accumulate knowledge. While participating in different academic events, she tries to tackle the issue of agent based design paradigm in architecture on multiple scale projects, through collaboration and exchange of knowledge with other experts from the field.
